On The Mend

I've not been posting lately because I've been sick. Last week I was really tired and drained. I could tell my allergies were the cause and unfortunately by Thursday night I was coming down with a sinus infection. I meant to go to the doctor Friday but I felt better and had a few things to do but I felt horrible by Friday evening. Sunday my ears started to hurt and I could tell I was getting an ear infection. I pretty much spent as much time as I could this past week on the sofa! Plus, I wound up going to the doctor twice. (lesson learned!)

I'm thankful that today, I was able to do a lot more. I'm feeling a more like myself than I've felt in days! I can tell my ears are still pretty stopped up but thankfully they aren't hurting quite as bad and I've got a little bit more energy!

Derek was amazing and kept everything going so I could rest! I know he's ready to see me back 100%. ha. Poor thing! It really is hard to do all that a mom does and it's even harder to step in for the other parent and play both roles.

Derek and the kids actually had a pretty full weekend and he even took pictures for me!

Thursday:
They Love their rain coats!
Anna-Kate had picture day when I asked her to show me the smile she gave, this is what she did! ha!
Friday:
I made a simple sensory bin for Thomas and he loved it!

He even picked everything up when he was done.
The girls love going to the games!

We went to the high school game! Thomas loved it!

They are so silly!
 Saturday:

They went to watch the Hogs play Alabama at a friends house. They love playing together!
Pretty Shelby

Derek said Anna-Kate wanted in that and they played with this for a long time! ha!
Sorry for the picture overload, but I guess that makes up for the lack of pictures lately!

Amanda, posted about a fun link up going on the month of October. Basically you pick something to blog about for 31 days. It can be 31 days of knitting or cleaning or your favorite books. Just something fun to share every day!

I decided to play along and I'm going to be doing 31 days of Fall Cleaning! I don't know about you, but my house needs some good deep cleaning more than just in the spring! Since I've been home I've noticed several areas that need to be organized and deep cleaned. (Under my bed is a scary place right now...) I also think it'd be fun to share a few quick cleaning tricks and hopefully even some fall decor so that I'm not just blogging about cleaning! ha. I think you'd get pretty tired of that! To keep up with the 31 posts, I've created a separate tab, just like my Menu Monday tab. I'll put a link to each days post!

If you'd like to join, you can go here to learn more about it!

Oh, just for a change, I've added a new header! What do you think? I like it a lot more than the last header I had, but I really want to add a family picture. When I was looking for one of all of us I realized that we have not had a family picture made in almost a year! It's definitely on my to-do list and when I get a good one, I'll change my header again!

Sick Mommy and Mischievous Pups!

This week has been a tough week for me! I started getting sick from my allergies Monday and did not start feeling better until today! Ick!

The dogs didn't get their morning walks in until today so they have been such stinkers! Tuesday they raided the pantry and got into some boxed mixes on the lower shelf. Of course the boxes got drug into the living room and then ripped open! Wednesday when I got home after lunch the trash can had been drug into the living room and they had tried to claw it open! (Thank goodness for lids that snap closed!) Thursday the dogs got back into the pantry and pulled out a canister of oats and not only drug that into the living room, but they then decided it'd be best to finish them off in my bed!! Not the best day to skip making up the bed! Oh and one of them had gotten a box of jello and ripped open the packets on my sofa! I just wanted to cry!!

Reagan is a very high-energy dog and needs lots of exercise so obviously I failed at doing that this week! I will be walking them too much next week!

I'm glad to be feeling better finally but sadly Thomas is now sick with all of the congestion. :( Yesterday he slept so long I'm embarrassed to say. But when he finally woke up I knew why- he was not himself and seemed to be icky feeling! Poor little guy! :( I can't stand it when my babies are sick! He cried off and on since 1:30 this afternoon. It's just so unlike Thomas to be fussy- I know he really doesn't feel well! It was so hard to get him to sleep and usually it's nothing for him to be in bed by 6:45. I'm guessing it's his allergies but afraid that he might have an ear infection.

I'm definitely looking forward to a good- productive weekend and a much, much better week next week!! I've got my first meeting of Ladies class on Wednesday and my first MOPs group meeting on Thursday!! And hopefully a make-up girls night somewhere in the mix! Can't wait! :)

Snowmen and Sinus Infections

Well it has been a rough winter to say the least. I'll wait while the northern readers attempt to contain their laughter at us hicks in the south. Ok, I know that cities south of the Mason-Dixon typically shut down for flurries but we have had a fairly active winter this year.

Early January gave us a good hard snow with several inches of accumulation. I love watching snow fall. I especially love the really big flakes and the wind blowing. Snow never lasts long here so we like to enjoy it while we can.

Over the next couple of weeks we dealt with what we hope is the culmination of the illness we have all suffered these last few months. Anna-Kate had been developing an increasingly bad cough and then we noticed what looked like pink-eye. Off to the doctor she went. She was a big girl for Dr. Eddie and he said she had bronchitis, pink-eye, and a double ear infection. I was shocked that it was that bad. She was sick, no doubt about it, but she was pretty calm about it all and did little complaining. She stayed mostly on the sofa the next week while she recovered.

We have all been cruddy the last few months with one thing or another. I think it's the same virus that keeps coming back stronger in each of us and then gets passed on to the next one. Seems like we may be over the worst now though.

Anna-Kate was better just in-time for the second half of our January book-end snow storms. We got an overnight ice followed by 24 hours of snowfall. Gorgeous. We had our first experience sledding and it became fairly obvious that Anna-Kate is not as big a fan of snow as I would have thought. She was ready for it to melt!!! Maybe she'll learn when she starts going to school full-time (twice a week now) and understands the rarity of Arkansas snow days.

Not sure if we have many pictures of our adventures but if we do Nicki will post them.
